The Role
You begin the internship with a 3 day induction in which you get you know all the other interns doing the internship across the regional offices (or just in London if that is where you are placed!) It is a fun experience with socials in the evenings and catering at all the events. The induction prepared me my first day in the office so I knew was to expect and wasn't too nervous! I was interning in Pensions Advisory which meant that I did not go to client site but had my own desk and spent lots of time with my team colleagues. I really enjoyed the professional environment and I became good friends with the team. Plus we had two overnight corporate away days which were really fun!
Yes, I felt valued because they thanked me for the work I was doing and were glad to offload different bits of their work. They also spent time getting to know me and put time aside to teach me some basic technical work, as well as chatting to me about the department.
There was always someone around to ask questions to, or if I had nothing to do I could go and ask if they needed any help which they usually were grateful for. The internal office messaging system helped me communicate with people working from home or in other offices.
I was given two research projects which I worked on whenever there were no other jobs to do. However I was usually quite busy with small jobs such as making edits to reports, printing and scanniing, filling in excel numbers. However I also enjoyed doing some technical work (specific to Pensions Advisory) such as roll-forwards and audit reviews.
All the technical work I produced was checked by a senior member of the team, before being passed on or signed off by the director/ partner. I had no absolute responsibility for client deliverables, but I was insensitivised to do a good job because it was being checked by seniors!
It has inspired me to become an Actuary and will shape the modules I will choose to take in my final year at university.
The Company
The office was quiet because a lot of people were on Summer holiday or working out of the office. However everyone I met was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Very well organised by HR - no complaints apart from the last minute changes to our finale event.
A lot of money was clearly spent on the social events and expenses for all of us interns. In the office, the team invested a lot of time to get to know me and teach me some basic actuarial skills.

I would definitely take the offer here! The biggest positive is the professionally qualification you work towards as a graduate and will be supported by one study day a week. Also the people are fab and good career prospects with secondments.
The Culture
I was in Leeds which is quite affordable but public transport is always expensive!
Great nights out in a variety of places: BBQ, Italian, cocktails, old pubs, social clubs, German beer and a swing bar.
No sports teams or other activities.
