The Role
I really enjoyed my time at KPMG and I would strongly recommend it to any student considering a career in finance.
I felt my potential and contribution were valued by my colleagues, even though I only had a few weeks experience.
I was given a graduate buddy at the start of my internship, I did work for several managers as the work came available and they were all supportive and sought to provide me with a board and quality experience during my time at KPMG. I also had a performance manager who supported my application to the graduate scheme.
The work load was generally quite light, however I didn't ever feel unused, as a lot of effort was made to provide me with a steady stream of work that I could learn from.
I was given far more responsibility than I expected, I managed my own projects, worked independently on audit support as well as working as part of project teams.
The employability skills I learned working with some of the top professionals in their field will be valuable as a graduate, and if I return to the same department then the technical learning will be very useful.
The Company
The office was quite quiet as everyone was focused on the work, but it was very positive and people often went out for drinks after close of play.
There was structured technical and business learning throughout my internship, there was good support for re-applying to the same department as a graduate, less so for trying to move to any other areas of the business
There was over 40 hours of training in my month long internship so I feel they invested a lot of resources in educating the interns, they also arranged several networking events and supported fast tracked graduate applications.

I would very much like to come back to KPMG as a graduate and as a successful summer intern, I only had a partner interview before receiving a graduate offer.
The Culture
There was a good social scene with the interns and graduates, and were very welcoming.
The most expensive place to live in the UK, however KPMG does subsidise food, pay for meals out and good salaries.
It's London, it doesn't get better.
Lots of societies, sports clubs (subsidised) and support networks, if what you're interested in isn't available, you can start it.
