The Role
I really enjoyed the internship, it gave a good introduction of what you would be doing as a graduate. The work given was genuine work that needed to be done and my colleagues often went out of their way to give me more challenging work. The work place was a fun environment.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, they were always happy to answer any questions, no matter how many I asked. They also asked for my input and opinions on tasks. Lastly if you made effort to get to know them they did the same.
On my various teams my in charge always gave me sufficient guidance and support on work, by going through the work with me and sending me last years examples. They also would check on progress made by me at the end of each day.
I had enough work to do on a daily basis but was never inundated with too much work. Also it being the a quieter part of the year there were certainly times when there was not much to do. However being proactive and asking around for work always solved this problem.
Responsibility varied with different teams, some managers giving you more especially in the smaller teams, for example I was once asked to write a industry report on a sector and highlight recent changes that would affect the audit teams strategy.
The skills I learnt will not help directly with my degree as I study Mathematics, however they will help with time management, planning and keeping updated with work. Also I learnt valuable interpersonal skills which will benefit me for the rest of my life.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very relaxed. In addition, colleagues had a good balance and did have fun as well as get work done. The hierarchical structure of the firm wasn't felt with everyone including the partners being approachable and ready for a conversation.
Overall the internship was very well organised. I was involved in a variety of departments with the audit side. There was only a couple days when I had come into the office not sure what team I'd be working with that day.
The firm had a total two development sessions for the interns which were very good and insightful. However to this day I am still to receive any feedback from my teams and am still chasing it. Although this is not the case for everyone as I know several other interns had their feedback gathered for them and had a performance review with a manager discussing the feedback.

Future prospects are very appealing with the firm, I had a partner interview promptly after the internship and have been offered a graduate job within the firm. I am going to accept the offer as the internship has given a good insight on what a career in audit entails.
The Culture
There was a good social scene during the internship. I was invited to the departments summer party which was excellent, I got to meet lots of colleagues including partners. Also we, interns used to meet up and go for drinks once a week to catch up on our experiences.
Being in Canary Wharf, London the cost of living and socialising is generally high. However I was living at home at the time so I did not really affect me. Also working in different sites during the internship, the prices a drinks after work varied.
The nightlife in London is excellent.
There were several societies and clubs we were told off, but as you are not based in the office at lot it's hard to get involved
