The Role
The job was varied and challenging from the very start. All the support and opportunities were there, should a placement student need them. Enjoyment was majorily influenced by the support as I personally felt that I was able to 'spread my wings' without being restricted to certain disciplins- day in, day out.
I feel that I was an integral part of the teams. I feel that I was continually rewarded for my contributions- through monetary contributions and support in my studies.
I feel that the guidance that was given was the main success factor of my placement. It is inevitable to become deflated at points in the year- as being a 20 year old, you mind is tempted to concentrate on other ares of life. I feel that the guidance of my manager at times gave me a lot more focus at crucial times.
I always felt that I had something to do. Even whilst writing this, I am replying to an email!
My responsibilities developed as the months go forth. As my interests grew in one are of the business, I was delegated the responsibility of a £100k marketing budget. A responsibility which was not expected. Although it seemed like quite a lot at the time, the support spoken of in (3), meant that it was an achieveable goal!
When I started my placement- I feel that I had a broad knowlege of marketing from an academic perspective. I know feel that I have a great experiance to help put this in to practise in later life!
The Company
I feel that thye overall atmosphere was fantastic. The HP open door policy meant that I was able to have conversations with everyone from the Department Director- to the Cleaner!
To be perfectly honest- not so great. I feel that the fact that most of the HR is outsourced had a bad affect in the overall organisation of the intern programme.
Highly. One example is the fact that I was sent on a trip to Germany on a product training course!
