The Role
Has been a challenge but thats what your after when you apply for an IB internship. Has been very rewardigng have learnt a lot about the nature of the company, day to day workings and had the opportunity to spend time on both sales and trading. The placement was enjoyable, the intern events were really good and i was made to feel like part of the team from the off.
I feel i was highly valued, the team were positive about my progress and the work i summitted. They also took a personal interest of me. .
Sadly my line manager was not there for my first two weeks of a four week rotation, however the team stepped in and gave me stuff to do. The mentoring program was very benfical as was the buddy event.
Depeneded on the day, some days i was able to get on with my project, i oftened needed to ask them questions before i could progress. Although there were some points when you were a bit quiet and everyone was busy, so you just read the FT.
None, but this was expected within sales and trading.
I've learnt SO MUCH, from what an IB actually does, the different products, how products trade, gained so much confidenced (you get pushed all the time to do stuff, for me i had never presented, i've have the opportunity to get better), they force you out of your comfort zone you talk to people from all areas of the bank (from MDs to juniors) so you become very professional
The Company
Atmosphere was much more relaxed that i expected, everyone was very chatty and very friendly.
Very well organisted, although it was a shame that my line manager was not there for my rotation would have made things much easier. HR were really orgainsted and very supportive.
