The Role
I enjoyed the placement a lot. The job itself did not stretch me technically however I gained valuable skills in communication and 'softer' skills.
Very. They immediately made me feel part of a team and not a child. I was given responsibility and was helping them with there work on a consistent basis. They were always keen to praise me or tell me what I could improve.
Not much, however that was a personal choice and I wanted the freedom. I feel if I wanted more guidance I could have easily attained it.
Not very. The job required doing a project over a 10 week basis which I felt could have been done in 6. I personally would have preferred a bigger project.
A fair amount. The project I was undertaking was important but I was aware I couldn't do everything I wanted to do due to my skill set. I felt this was fair but I do think more responsibility would have helped.
Not very much. My major criticism of the program is they but very technical people in not very technical roles. I think this has helped me become more well rounded but it will definitely not help in my degree or the current career path I want to be on.
The Company
Positive and relaxed. People are generally nice and always welcome to take a question.
OK. Some training sessions were pointless or at the wrong time. However, the structure at the end with reviews and presentations were good.
A lot. They gave us a lot of training and team days as well as provided us with the freedom to persure our own goals.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Fairly. I would have to be in a technical role though. I did enjoy the company environment though.
The Culture
We were all in the same halls that the company put us in so yes it was good socially. The graduate team also but on team days that allowed us to get to know each other. I was generally impressed with how social the group was.
Accommodation was provided for us by the company. The area itself was expensive but that was offset by the massive saving of not paying accommodation.
Virtually none. No students were in our halls and all clubs had shut. This did not bother me, I don't particularly like clubs.
Lots of local clubs as well as those ran by the company. The halls also had countless sporting activities.
