The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much. It included a variety of different roles for me to take. The environment was very positive.
I was feeling very valued as the team trusted me with a very big project that they were heavily dependent on. The office environmet was very friendly. Everyone is easy going and nice to talk to.
The support was there, although I felt as though I did not need much as my work was pretty straightforward. The opportunity to network and grow as a person was always there
Some days were busy, some not so busy. Dependent on what work I was assigned by my manager. Some day's also felt very short as they were compiled of just meetings. This meant that the next day would be busy working on everything learnt
I was handed responsibility of an entire part of the business. Alot of responsibility on my shoulders, I was suprised as this will have a major impact on the business
Holding a meeting, working in unfamiliar environments. Travelling for work. Team working and working alone, all these things were developed. The ability to learn something on the job is something that will be used both in my degrees studies and beyond.
The Company
Very positive. The office would occasionally burst into a few good minutes of chatter. Always easy to approach someone for help aswell
Organisation was not too great. For my first week, there was no real work to do as that was still being organised. The IS department was slow with sorting out laptops and mobile phones
They sent us out on team building activities. A lot of time and money was invested in building our social skills.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing. The only thing holding me back is location of the office.
The Culture
Yes, all the interns were given accomodation close to the office. This meant that after work, most people would get together and socialise. Different events every night, from going to the cinema, having an Indian, or even just relaxing in the kitchen.
Cost of living very low, all that is needed is a car, but even this you can share with the other interns. Accomodation is given, canteen is subsidised and prices of socialising is quite low as it is outside of London
Little nightlife in Windsor/ Staines. However a train journey away from London means you can get to where you want to for the night
A charity competition that ran throughout the internship meant we were always involved in activities outside of work.
