    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working in procurement gave me a great introduction to working in a large company. I was given meaningful tasks that actually added value to the business, and allowed me to see my work impact on the company.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were quiet, but I was always able to ask for extra work if needed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was left to compete tasks on my own and required to present my findings to senior team members. There was a lot of space to use my own initiative. I was given ownership of one project and worked to drive a few others. I was also trusted to put together legal contracts.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think as a history student this placement was invaluable in helping me adjust to a commercial role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although there was a large age gap between myself and most of my colleagues, I still enjoyed working with everyone. There were plenty of opportunities to 'network' e.g. 5-a-side football teams, charity projects, volunteering.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The initial information was sometimes contradictory - e.g. turning up on day 1 not knowing where I was actually living. Line managers were given a lot of responsibility for ensuring I had enough work, which was great for me but other interns were not as lucky.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Legal training, opportunities to travel to see other parts of the business, presentation training

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • End-of-placement presentation that pretty much guarantees a place on the 2 year grad scheme if it goes well.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accomodation provided by the company at no cost. There was a lot of stuff to do (e.g. Thorpe Park, TopGolf, 30mins from central London). Could easily become expensive but didn't have to be.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Pretty average. No real uni town nearby, Windsor was the only place to go out unless you could afford a ridiculously expensive night in somewhere like Clapham. Still good fun nothing special.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Played 5-a-side every Monday with colleagues; occassional team meal/drinks.

    4/5
