    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with M&G investments this summer. It was an excellent experience which has opened my eyes to the whole financial sector.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my team from the first day. Although there are times when tasks set are not as exciting as others, colleagues do go to great lengths to make their appreciation of the work known. The harder you work in the first couple of weeks the quicker you get the responsibility of more challenging work. Following our mid -term assessment presentations some of the suggestions I made were followed up by senior managers and I was asked to do further research into these areas and report my findings back.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance is of a very high standard, managers and full time employees alike make a real effort to ensure you understand the work you are doing. The employees at M&G are very friendly and approachable which makes the resolution of any problems efficient and painless.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload varies a lot as would be expected in any workplace. But there is plenty to keep you occupied; ‘the I’ is an interactive learning platform where you can undertake classes in all areas of investment management. The resources are extensive and are a very good way to productively fill time between tasks.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility increases throughout the programme, it is your job to prove to your manager that you are capable of doing work of a more challenging nature. The faster you do this the faster your responsibilities grow.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working in a professional environment applying theoretical studies from university to the work place was a great learning curve. The biggest development I have made is my Excel skills; I underappreciated before I started how important they would be.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere is great; it’s a relaxed, fun yet professional environment which promotes a very productive level of work. During the application process there was a lot of emphasis from the employees on the positive working environment and it has lived up to my expectations. It’s no surprise people stay here for a long time!

    5/5
