The Role
I really have enjoyed the placement. We stayed in accommodation which was paid for by Centrica, which has added to it personally and professionally. Additionally my tasks have been very engaging and I feel like I am making a difference to the company.
Very much so as I was brought into the business to give a marketing perspective to a Public Affairs areas therefore they really valued and took on board what I said. Additionally I have seen some of my recommendations being used.
Yes, she has been there whenever I needed her although trusted me to get on with my work when she went on annual leave. She gives me the autonomy to get on with my projects and I feel trusted.
I was given control of my own calendar so could plan out my own time. I do not feel too busy as I can have up to 4 projects running simultaneously, but not bored either. Centrica doesn't want the culture to take work home therefore I never felt this pressure.
I am given autonomy in my own projects, and as my role is live actually feel like I am adding value to the business. A lot of my work is report based so I make recommendations to the business. I have seen some of these influence people's work.
I have been given the opportunity to develop my presentation skills and knowledge about the business, something I will benefit from for a long time. Additionally was also given professional presentation training. I have also used my degree in an applied setting, helping me to see the value in it beyond theoretical.
The Company
Professional so I can get on with my work however I have a really good professional relationship with everyone in my team. The atmosphere is focused as we are all working hard however relaxed with some background chat.
Yes very. Using outlook calendar means I can plan meetings, but also the graduate team and my line manager can communicate with me appointments/training which I can clearly see. There has been a range of activities throughout both social and for personal development which were arranges within plenty of time.
The invested in professional presentation training and team building away day style activities. My line manager also personally invested in me by giving up her time to give me feedback on the presentations I have preformed as well as weekly one-to-ones.

Very much so, they invest in the younger future talent and recruit heaving from the summer placement scheme. It is a brilliant company and I would love to work here.
The Culture
Yes we went out almost every week into Windsor/London as well as having weekly dinners out. I see my flat mates ever night in the kitchen,, everyone is very social.
Expensive due to London, but as a student you can easily make it work! Meals out as long as they are at chains make it cheaper!
In the area I worked (Windsor) we usually go out, however this is 20 minutes away which makes taxis about £5 each per way. This is expensive but as long as you factor it in and make an informed judgement you can make it work!
If you want to yes, they encourage you to do charity work for their local charity and put you in groups to achieve this. That was really fun as it can also be done in work time. There is the free gym and many activities which are advertised on the intranet. I personally haven't joined any.
