The Role
The overall working atmosphere was very good, with very good colleagues. I felt I learnt a lot, and had a good time.
I felt that my work was going to help them and that they appreciated what I was doing.
Support was given whenever I needed it, either from my line manager or others around me. I was for the most part left to get on with my own work, though this was more a sign of trust than neglect.
For the most part I had things to do at all points, with the only exceptions being when I was waiting on other people to get back to me on something. The work didn't overspill into my own time however.
I was given full responsibility for my tasks, with the capacity to choose how I did them.
Specific skills include Visual Basic, which will either help me directly or indirectly since it greatly improved my use of computer programming. I also improved communication and organisation skills, which will greatly help me in my future career.
The Company
Very relaxed - you could go up to anyone and talk or ask for help without fear of it being inappropriate. There was a good social aspect, with for instance people bringing in food to share. There were not too many distractions however.
Organisation was good, though most interns were placed around London, and most events were organised with these in mind. In some cases this was fairly rigid, with me having to get flights for events that were perhaps not worth getting flight for. I did however know at all times about everything I needed to go to.
The company spent significant amounts of money on training events such as team building and communications skills, paying for flights for me to attend these.

Very - I would like to continue working with Centrica after I graduate
The Culture
There were only two of us in the Aberdeen office, though we got involved with things organised by the graduates. There was a very good social aspect in this respect.
Accommodation was paid for by Centrica, and other costs were no more than you might expect elsewhere.
There were a large number of clubs, bars and pubs which were good to go to.
I got involved in football, rowing and climbing outside of work, and took many walks. There was opportunity to do almost any activity you wanted.
