The Role
Really enjoyed being part of several teams as well as communicating with several employees both in the office and on client site. To be thrown into immediately what graduates would be doing on day 1 of the internship was an invaluable experience and it has really given me a good insight into management consulting.
Was treated as a 'colleague' and not as an outsider or someone that wasn't part of the organisation. Was made to feel at home and as part of all the teams I worked with.
Any questions that I had were answered and all the people I spoke to were very approachable - was good to be able to clarify pieces of work in order to complete them to the best of my ability.
Some days were busier than others but on a less busy day, there was time freed up to maybe grab a coffee with people working in different departments or to complete any online training from the vast materials available.
A lot for someone only there for 4 weeks - in the final two weeks, I was helping produce deliverables that would be passed onto the client. This made me feel integral to the team and was an amazing experience to be given that responsibility that early on.
I think there are valuable skills that will help in my future career - including the art of networking, something I didn't see as important before completing the vacation programme at KPMG. Was able to build networks and will take what I learnt forward in my career.
The Company
Really good - everyone very friendly and up for a chat/coffee. The atmosphere really helped me to settle in early on.
It is very hard to structure an internship in Management Consulting just due to the project nature of the work - I was able to talk to the right people and with that I got put on a project on client site within a week and this gave me vast exposure.
There were several courses available to take online both live and in your own time - these were good to complete when you had a spare moment or two and were easy to access/follow.

Working from home
I would love to take on the graduate role at KPMG - having really experienced what it is like in that field of work, I think I'd like to pursue a career in Consulting in the future.
The Culture
Did have a couple of social events with colleagues that really helped to network and get to know people.
High - London of course. Heavily subsidised canteen as well as expenses on lunch was a massive help, I didn't end up spending too much on anything.
