The Role
It was a stressful position with a lot of responsibility but I have learnt so much because of it. The job is very dynamic and changes on a day to day basis - its more exciting to be doing something different almost every day !
Very. I am the only engineer responsible for my unit and its application. I was a strong determining factor in my units development.
I had weekly meetings with my senior. He was very supportive if I needed help. I think electrical department is especially helpful - other departments were not as good.
Yes, I was never bored. I did nearly 150 hours in overtime.
A lot. Responsibility of a unit and its application. I was the go to person for information :)
So many ! Technical: Diagnostic and fault finding, data analysis, general electrical knowledge (about noise, EMC, etc), soldering Software: CANalyzer, HyperTerminal (AT Command set) Personal: Confidence, self reflection, planning
The Company
Always there to help. Very work focused. There were few socials organized, unlike other departments.
They had agreed on what my responsibilities were going to be and I had my own input into what I wanted to do and achieve.
Training and safety department was really poor, I worked in electrical test and almost everyday on EVs. There was an EV H&S course at Nissan that would have been beneficial to me. I asked for the course all year but the training department could never get themselves organized. And there was a list of over 20 people waiting to take the course... As for informal training from my own team, they always made time to teach me how to use equipment/software that was needed.

I don't know if I'd return in the same role. It was very stressful. But if I did come back to Nissan I would want to work in the same department :)
The Culture
Yes, other IPs were very friendly. We even organized a ski trip to Andorra that 16 people went on.
I go to uni in London, so by comparison it was dirt cheap. My accommodation each month (incl. bills) was under £400 in Milton Keynes.
So dull, but I lived near the train station. 30mins and I could be back in London :)
There are a few. There was a big group of people that used to go every week to the snowdome or wake boarding at Willen Lake. There are bake sales every now and then as well to raise money for charities.
