The Role
Highly enjoyable throughout the year. Less than a handful of times I have been faced with a task that I haven't enjoyed at all.
The students within this department are not treated as "just students". We are given responsibility on tasks, and allowed the freedom to succeed as we wish.
Support was given when needed, but not too much so I had to learn from my mistakes and learn what I needed to do rather than relying on the support of my manager and team.
I have always had plenty of projects to work on. There have been times when I have felt over faced and under pressure to complete too much, with responses required by different people who did not understand the pressures I was facing from others at the same time. Nevertheless, these have all contributed to my increasing efficiency.
Enough responsibility to know that I was part of the team and my efforts were necessary and appreciated. However, I was never given too much responsibility that I felt that I could make inappropriate mistakes etc.
I have learnt to face up to deadlines and work quickly and efficiently. Additionally, the realisation that your actions have consequences for others as well as yourself comes quickly.
