About You
A great programme to do. Two days of presentations, learning exercises and business games. very valuable to CV why would you not apply. Could find it slightly dull if, like me, you already know which area of financial services you want to work in then sitting through countless presentations on audit and tax etc may not be your cup of tea. Very well organised, staff are great and very approachable. You will receive a final interview for a summer placement at KPMG after. Disappointingly this interview is a phone interview with HR not with an employee of the area to which you apply. Overall absolutely apply there's no reason not to.
Some partners and high up staff give quick presentations which is great to make you feel valued. The program is very well organised and you will get a real insight and opportunity to chat to employees which makes you feel important.
Lots of the activities where team based as a graduate job at KPMG involves a lot of team work so you will be supported by your group. Each group was given a mentor who is an employee of KPMG.
There was several very useful skill sessions, which could at times get slightly dull, but are very useful. I picked up some presentation and teamwork skills as well as confidence.
The Company
Organisation was perfect. There is a tight schedule which will be outlined to you at the start of each day. The day will consist of presentations from different departments, business games and networking events.
The atmosphere was more laid back than i imagined (Obviously still a professional environment ). All staff were very approachable and I made some good friends over the two days. I did not get the sense it was too competitive, there was no stress or nerves, it seemed like an event where I could get the insight into life at KPMG without being judged for the questions I was asking etc.
the days where split 50/50 between training activities and insight presentations so plenty of development opportunities.
generally each presentation was about an hour so actually could not go into to much detail. The event was more focused on the atmosphere of working at KPMG rather than the technical side of the job.
You really get a sense of the atmosphere of KPMG and culture after the two day. Many of the staff seem very likeminded and you will absolutely understand the company culture after the two days.
Presentations did not go into too much depth so the event is better thought of as an insight into the work culture at KPMG.
Everything Else
Not paid but travel expenses reimbursed up to £100. No overnight accommodation annoyingly
Yes. There was a networking drinks event at the end of the final day so you can absolutely have a chat with employees of the area in the firm you'd like to work at.
There was a networking drinks event at the end of the final day so you can absolutely have a chat with employees of the area in the firm you'd like to work at. It was an informal event so it was nice to have a chat about things we all care about eg work hours, without being judged for your questions.
Not really. The event was only two days and It was focused on packing in everything about working at KPMG.
Absolutely very fun, inightful experience.
