The Role
It was excellent - the work itself was interesting, the office atmosphere was friendly and the company organised numerous social events. There were many different aspects to the role which I had the opportunity to experience.
Very much - my contributions in meetings were taken as seriously as those by more experienced members of the company. There were regular social events in the evenings to which I would be invited.
Regular catch-up meetings were organised where I could receive feedback on my work and the rest of my team were always available for support. My team leader would give clear guidance and instructions.
Except for the second day of the internship there was always something to do but not so much that I would become overly stressed. Whenever I had down-time I would work on one of the two projects I had been given.
My contributions had a direct impact on the company's product and the content I created will be used in future lessons. Additionally my side-projects were directly relevant to the interests of the company.
On the technical side I have learnt to use data analysis software which will be extremely useful when I return to my degree. Additionally I have improved my team working and organisational skills which will be useful in many contexts.
The Company
Very friendly - the open layout of the office meant that sharing of ideas happened freely and the size of the company meant that it was always clear who to ask for advice. Pool and table football in the downstairs area aided relaxation.
Although some of the introductions at the start of the internship were not directly relevant to our roles and could have potentially been left until later, I settled into the job very easily and felt that help was always available.
I received training for the company's purpose-built software and for R (a programming language for data analysis). I have gained many other transferable skills from the internship.

Very appealing - I cannot imagine enjoying a job much more than this one. At the time of writing I am yet to hear whether I have been given a return offer but I will find this out in the coming week.
The Culture
We would regularly socialise in our flat in the evenings and we were often invited to social events with colleagues. The regular company-organised events were also great opportunities to socialise.
The company paid for our accommodation, which was a modern student flat. We mostly socialised as a group by relaxing in our living area in the evenings which meant that we did not spend much money at all.
Exeter has some nice pubs and restaurants which we visited along with other members of the company, though I spent most of my weekends travelling in the local area and visiting friends who lived nearby.
Yes - social events were organised almost every week, including a staff summer party, a kayaking trip and a hiking trip to Dartmoor followed by a buffet meal. There were also weekly sports and music opportunities after work.
