The Role
The people I worked with were lovely and always incredibly helpful. Throughout my time I was given a great deal of independence and constantly challenged enabling to grow and learn a number of things.
I was treated with great respect by my work colleagues and seen not as an intern but as a member of the team who was thus expected to achieve the same standards of hard work and quality as other members of the team. Something that I think was very beneficial,
Both the HR department and my colleagues on the team were very helpful if I had any questions, concerns or queries, Especially my team members who were not only professionally helpful and personally a pleasure to work with too,
Most of the time I was very busy with a load of stuff to do. Often perhaps too busy but that did enable me to learn how to manage time effectively. Glad I never had nothing to do as would have hated to just sit around all day,
An amazing amount. Clients didn't know that I was an intern allowing me to get high levels or responsibility. Had great exposure with clients and given genuinely important tasks which was great.
Helped me learn time management and being efficient and getting things done. Less the practical skills that have been useful i.e excel and more learning about the working world and meeting expected standards.
The Company
The office was relaxed and fun, everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. However, work did not take a back seat to this - everyone takes pride and is very interested in their clients and jobs which adds to a good atmosphere.
The internship was very well organised as everyone within the team knew I was around and would offer me work whenever needed. You're given a buddy and a champion who are there to help and make sure you're hitting your targets. The only area I felt was lacking is the time I spent with the partner - you're meant to have a week shadowing a partner in your department however I sat in on one meeting. Whilst I understand the partner has an extremely busy schedule, I felt my internship would have been more valuable had I been able to shadow a partner in the firm.
As mentioned Deloitte provides around 24 hours training for employees per year. However as an intern not all training a were applicable and those costing money not permitted. However, the firm invested significantly in myself in terms of responsibility and trust which helped me gain practical skills whilst working.

Depending on your performance you will be assessed for a job after graduation. The end result will be fed back to you by HR in an exit interview. It is recommended to always touch basis with your mentor/buddy or manager to ask for feedback and feed forward to help you excel. Deloitte start returning graduates as analysts as they do for any new joiner unless they are professional hires. Promotion aspects occur after 2 years.
The Culture
Personally I did not get to interact heavily with any other interns whilst on placement (deployed on project). However Deloitte holds regular events for interns (e.g socials) to ensure networking links are formed and friends keep in touch.
The cost of living in the area was the same as that in any place on the outskirts of London. The shops and local produce were priced according to the area so local shops would be cheaper but you still had the supermarket and shopping chains which were the usual prices you’d find everywhere.
There's a huge variety of what to do and where to go in London.
At Deloitte we have many societies as such whether this ranges from polo to chess. These clubs are all very inclusive and participation is encouraged during a discussion in your first week.
