The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at BAML. I really like the company culture and the fact that they make you feel like part of the team. I met fantastic people who helped me developing my skills, not giving me answers but asking me questions, so that I was able to learn every day and push myself. I am happy about the tasks I was given: from the trivial task to help on a transaction, I have seen all the different kind of tasks you are required to complete as an analyst. I really appreciate my manager's will to make me see and work on different companies within different industries. Now I have an idea about how the consumer and retail, healthcare and telecommunication industries work and what drives them. It is really outstanding the amount of networking opportunities BAML organizes for its interns. From breakfast with very senior people to BBQ night with representatives of other division, the bank gives you plenty of opportunities to know people and get a feeling of the company as a whole. Astonishingly, the interns had the opportunity to meet Brian Moynihan. Not a common thing in other banks.
The colleagues made me feel as part of the team, giving me work to do and allowing me to help them in their everyday tasks. Starting from trivial work, after gaining their trust by doing a good job, they were willing to give me more and more complicated tasks to do.
BAML gives full support and guidance. Thanks to the presence of a buddy and a mentor you have both guidance in day to day job to advice on your career. The HR team is a constant support that helps you whatever problem you have and showing a real interest for your well being and overall experience. Finally, the manager was very helpful: he tried to push me to my limits and gave me really interesting tasks since the first day.
My day was pretty busy on average starting at 8,30am and finishing at 20pm. Of course some days were more exciting than others but overall I was quite busy and never bored.
At first the level of responsibility was low but after delivering good quality work, the level of the responsibility increased, allowing me to add value to work of the team.
I learned more in these 10 weeks than in my last year at university. Thanks to this internship now I know what it is relevant to study and what is not. In addition, this internship helped me developing all the skills required for a corporate environment (professionalism, attention to detail) and improved enormously my analytical skills. Overall, I definitely benefitted from this internship, strengthening my abilities and improving where I was not proficient.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really good. It was possible to speak with anyone and while of course there were serious moments, there was always time for a good laugh with the colleagues.
The overall internship was well organised. After one week of well structured training (from basic accounting knowledge to relationship skills), divided in general training and division training, I was able to hit the desk proficiently. There were minimum requirements in term of task to do before the end of the internship, allowing you to see lots of different things. In addition, the company organized plenty of events to either socialize with colleagues or to learn and speak with senior people.
The company highly invested on me, training me constantly and making sure I was making the most out of the internship. Based on the task I was given, it is clear the willingness to test me and make me grow.

I hope to get an offer from an internship program, based on the drive I put in this work during these 10 weeks. The company showed interest for me and the team I was working with was fantastic. Overall, it would be a pleasure to get an offer for the graduate program and I will participate if I have the chance. \
The Culture
There were plenty of opportunities to socialize with both interns and colleagues. From BBQ to drinks, it was really easy to meet and know lots of people. In addition, there was a good atmosphere among the interns: we went out together frequently and organized weekly football matches.
The cost of living in London is quite high. Transportation is very expensive and tube is packed in the morning. The accommodation suggested by the bank was cheap compared to other place and not far from work. Expect to spend a lot on food if you want good quality, but the variety of places where to eat is outstanding.
The nightlife in the area I was working was good enough: there were lots of pubs and places where to drink or eat with the other interns and colleagues. However, pubs/restaurant close quite early: do not expect to find the kitchen open after 10pm. However, London is a huge city and thanks to the good transportation system, there is always something to do every night at either walking distance or in 30 minutes taking buses/tube.
As per the nightlife, London is a huge city and there are plenty of opportunities outside work. For example, I participated at a race in Battersea Park with colleagues and played football every Saturday.
