The Role
The knowledge I've accumulated and the people I got to learn - I could never have imagened. People do expect a lot from you, but in my opinion that is how you learn, and to be honest, its part of the fun. Sometimes I felt a lot pressure, but in hindsight it was all for the better as it improved my performance.
People are very nice, yet busy. In the role as a trader I could go a full day without any direction given from my managers. This was because they gave me a lot of responsibility and freedom on my projects - and it was up to me to deliver. But when they had time for me, I sure did feel welcome as most of them have been in my shoes at some point.
More at my rotation at a sales desk than at the trading rotation. But on the otherhand, I didn't need guidance to the same extend with regards to the projects I had.
There were always stuff needed to be done or projects that I worked on. However, there was times when my ability to complete tasks depended on more senior people, and if they weren't available I simply had to wait them out before being able to work again.
Not much of what I did was any responsibility in that sense that I had contacts with clients etc. Pretty understandable that the traders were not letting me trade. However, the projects I worked on did create some actual value for the desks either by making their day-to-day tasks slightly easier or by giving them new insights to different regions/sectors.
Very much. Since I am starting my major in Finance a couple of days after the internship has ended, I beleive I will have developed an edge. Especially on the derivatives side on my major, I expect my knowledges gained in rate and credit derivatives to be very useful. Learning by doing is better than learning through reading, and that is exactly what I have done this summer.
The Company
Fast-paced, but everything with a smile! Sometimes things went wrong and the atmosphere soured a bitm but order was often quickly restored.
Very well. Compared to friend doing other banks internships, I feel this have been the most structured one.
I can't even imagane how much they firm has invested in me. 2 weeks training and an own Bloomberg terminal, just to mention two.

Very appealing. Don't know yet the outcome of my internship, but I hope I get the chance to join fulltime.
