The Role
The internship has been such a great experience, far beyond my expectations. I've learnt so much and the networking opportunities are great. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in investment banking - BAML is the place to be.
All colleagues really took time to explain and make sure that I understood the task at hand. They also always made sure I understood the context. They way you are treated makes you feel as a full-time employee.
To a great extent. If there was any questions I had, I could always ask my supervisors and they would take a few minutes off to explain. This was one of the best parts of the internship - the fact that the employees really invest in you as an intern.
It varied, but most days you are very busy. The high number of interns meant that there was less work per intern. However, this allowed me to have time to network during less busy days.
A lot of responsibility. Many of the things I did was used in presentations to clients and senior employees.
Since I study finance and economics, it has really been useful to learn some practical applications during this internship. Also, my excel skills have improved greatly and this is a skill that I believe will be very useful in my degree studies and future career within banking.
The Company
The culture and work atmosphere is something I believe makes BAML unique. BAML has a very friendly and supportive culture which many other banks do not have.
HR did a really good job at this. We had lectures and panel discussions with senior employees throughout the internship, career development sessions and many social activities outside of work.
As mentioned above, there was a high degree of investment. This is something I value highly because if you are to work with IB and put in a high number of hours, it's important that your employer is prepared to invest in you as well. The first week of the internship we had training and they did a good job to make sure that everyone learned the basics needed to do the job. Throughout the internship, as previously mentioned, I had the opportunity to sit down with analysts to get feedback.

Very appealing!
The Culture
Definitely, we arranged many social events together outside of work.
Pretty high, it's London. But it's all about how you choose to socialize. Some places are more expensive than others.
Great, it's London..
Yes! There are opportunities to do voluntary work, engage in diversity groups as well as attending other social events arranged by employees and HR.
