The Role
It was great. I highly recommend trying it if you're considering joining the industry. You get a sense of all the pros and cons of working here, and whatever you end up wanting to do, you come out with a much more accurate understanding of how the world really works. It's not something you can simply read about in a book.
This is probably the point I would emphasise the most. During my whole time here, I've been treated like an integral part of each team I've been with. You realise how important that is when you're here spending hours each day with the same people.
This is closely tied with feeling valued. People were happy to give up some of their time to teach you or guide you.
The start of the internship was more about meeting everyone and taking part in training sessions that would bring everyone up to speed with the technical side. Once we actually started on the desk, we were all given a veriety of projects to complete over the whole rotation, and smaller projects to complete daily. Time would fly.
Realistically, there's only so much you can do as an intern wherever you go. I ended up producing reports that went directly to clients, and also went to events and met them in person. Although, at this stage I felt like there was a lot more I needed to learn and experience before taking on massive responsibility.
Not so much in terms of my degree. However, massively for my career after. I feel much more aware and prepared to succeed in this industry than I did 10 weeks ago. As you would expect, the learning curve is very steep.
The Company
It varied from desk to desk, but the desks I were on were buzzing. Everyone had great relationships with the rest of their team, sharing ideas, information, jokes, etc. Depending on the speed of the job the desk had, the atmosphere was livelier as the speed increased.
Very well organised. There was never a point where I wasn't sure where I should be or what I should be doing. Everything was very transparent and very well planned. HR were amazing.
Again, tying in with earlier questions, I understand the industry and each role significantly more than I did before I started. Each strength was strengthened, and each weakness was worked on. The managers, buddies, and mentors knew exactly how to approach each aspect of training.

The Culture
Great group of interns, all like-minded with similar objectives and similar problems. We went out together every weekend and are now very close friends.
Central London is obviously very expensive. Personally, I was fortunate to be from here in the first place, but I know it was quite expensive for the people that didnt live here.
Great - it's London.
Football, nights out, social events, dinners. There was more than enough going on to fill your time with.
