The Role
Quite a bit, the people I worked with were great and really helpful.
The counselling manager was really helpful and knew what he was doing. I was paired with a trainee who was also relatively new to the firm and could give advice, which was useful.
It depended day to day, and August was generally quite a quiet time in the office. But colleagues tried hard to give me as much as they could and keep me busy, which was kind.
Again it depended day to day. There was a fair amount of filing and admin but managers tried to involve me in more complex work, and took time to explain to me any important work that they were doing.
I do a completely different degree so specific knowledge and skills won't really travel across too well. However other practical skills developed on the internship will help me going forward, such as how to interact in an office, communication skills etc.
The Company
It was professional but relaxed. The office was really welcoming. The workers all got on well and socialised together, which was nice.
Pretty well
We had some training at the beginning which introduced us to the basics and eased us into the internship.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Quite appealing, the six weeks made the firm seem like a good place to work
The Culture
We spent around one week out of the office and working with the other interns, which meant we got to know each other quite well. BDO was good in creating a community amongst the interns.
