About You
The experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I had a great time at the firm and met some really interesting people. The experience provided me with a great insight into a multi national law firm and helped me to understand the level of work undertaken in practice. The people I met were all very friendly and the company was very welcoming. The events in the evenings and throughout my experience were great fun. I felt at ease within the company and with my fellow vacation schemers.
I felt as valued as possible considering the limited role you can play during a vacation scheme. I think the important thing was that I had enough challenging work to do. Additionally, I was able to tackle problems that were put to me by supervisors and other trainees. This helped boost my confidence in undertaking this level of work.
During the vacation scheme the level of guidance was excellent. From the initial meeting with the graduate recruitment team all the way through to the end of the experience I was provided with help. We were regularly given practice area talks and further presentations from trainees and partners. These helped to improve my understanding of the different sector focuses the firm operates in. In undertaking work for my supervisor and trainee I was given help when required. Pointers were given in order for me to be more succinct in my research. This allowed me to apply myself fully and to the best of my abilities.
I had finished my degree by the time I was undertaking my vacation scheme. However, the experience I received whilst on the vacation scheme was invaluable. I have been able to gain first hand practice within a large commercial firm and this is something that will only benefit my legal career further in the future.
The Company
The insight was well structured. We were given clear packs detailing what we would be doing and who we would be sitting with during our tie at the firm. From the vacation scheme the work and culture of the firm became very clear. The tasks I undertook were detailed and analytical, the kind of work expected at a commercial law form of CMS Cameron McKenna's standards. The culture of the firm was the most important insight as It enabled me to gather whether I would like to work at the company or not. The atmosphere was refreshing and the people who helped to guide me during my experience were an embodiment of the firm.
I have covered this in the above answer.
The vacation scheme was not so much geared towards personal development in investment. However, during my experience I was given sufficient attention from my supervisor in order to progress through the work that was given to me.
The insight was very useful. I was able to appreciate the level of work that would be required from a trainee at the company. Subsequently, I was able to understand the level of research and analysis needed to accomplish day to day tasks.
The insight was integral to my understanding of the company culture. I only had the views of the company from reviews and online research. Spending time within the company helped me to understand the attitudes within the firm. The atmosphere was very positive, people always keen help out and provide direction. Having spoken to some trainees I was told that guidance and help is always offered when it is needed as their is considerable focus on trainee development.
The content of the experience was very valuable in helping me decide my future career. I was able to understand that this was the company I would like to work of in the future. Subsequently, this experience allowed me to apply for a future role at the company and progress my career.
Everything Else
Yes we were given plenty of opportunities to meet other people in the company. During the day we met plenty of important members of the company and through the after work events we were able to socialise with other members.
Please see above.
Yes I was able to play football at lunch with some of the other employees. Subsequently, I was put on the mailing list for the main football team for the law firm.
yes definitely I could not speak highly enough of my experience.
