The Role
I Really enjoyed my time at the bank, the teams I worked in were always really friendly and happy to help out. The events arranged for the interns were always a good laugh. The bank gave you alot of exposure to senior members of every area of the bank, you could meet anyone you wanted to providing you showed an interest and put in the effort.
From day 1 I felt part of the team and the whole department. We had 1 to 1 meetings with directors on the first week and we was introduced to everyone across the division on the first day. Everyone was really friendly and always happy to help with questions or problems. The team was really nice and always made us feel welcome and part of the team.
The amount of support was amazing from managers to HR and to team members, any questions or problems there was always somebody that could help you out with whatever it was.
Some days I wouldn't have that much physical work to do due to conference calls and meetings. Other days I had stuff to keep me busy all day and the next, but none of the work was under time pressure so it was always a good balance.
At first my responsibilities were limited just sitting in on calls and making notes but by the end of the 10 weeks I was leading calls and actually being involved within the work the team was doing. Responsibilities got deeper and deeper as the weeks went on.
Working here helped me develop skills that university doesn't teach you. Simple things like being active in a meeting and asking the right questions. It helped my confidence alot when speaking infront of people or meeting senior members of important teams.
The Company
Very chilled, everyone has coffee breaks. Noone was concerned about the time you spent at the desk as long as your work was done.
Very well. Theres that many interns in all different departments that everything is organised well.
We had a week worth of training at the start then team training at our first week on the desk.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Positive.
The Culture
Yes, we had regular nights out with the interns at bars around the city.
London is expensive in general, the area around the office was pricey but not horrific.
We mainly went to bars near the office, nights out we went other areas of London.
We had a touch rugby tournament and training sessions, then the gym was another option.
