The Role
Very much. I was given an interesting project to work on within equity research, and all those I worked with were very friendly and supportive.
The work I did was important to my team, so yes, I felt valued.
We were given an initial week f useful training, followed by further ad hoc training sessions. My team were also very happy to explain concepts and issues to me.
As I was working on a long running project, I never had nothing to do. Some days though were busier when I was given smaller tasks to complete, which made the internship more interesting.
My project would underlie a piece of research that they would publish
I developed general 'workplace skills', improved IT (primarily excel) skills and greater understanding of finance and my sector. And the capacity to work 12 hour days.
The Company
Very friendly, supportive and welcoming
HR organised it all very well, with great communications throughout
The initial week was devoted to training - BAML sourced some external training on accounting and excel which was very useful
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
If you want to work in the industry, it's a great company to work for. Great people, great platform, and (crucially) a very well-located office in the City by St Paul's.
The Culture
Quite good - HR organised 4/5 events over the summer
London prices are London prices, reducing the real value of the salary
Went out in London a few times. Good fun, but paying £6 for a shot is never pleasant.
There was an intern touch rubgy, but other than that, there were few social or sport activities.
