The Role
I enjoy the internship a lot. there are a lot of new knowledge to learn, amazing people to meet and talk to. a lot of hands-on project to really gain a taste of working environment. the experience has been wonderful and is also a very good preparation before going into real working environment.
I really like my team. they are all very nice and supportive. whenever I ask them questions, they are very patient and provide me with a comprehensive answer. they also give me necessary guidance and support for my projects, recognising the work product that I have produced.
my line manager is always there for me. he gives me really good introduction to the business. he also give me good suggestions on my projects and is always supportive to any problems I encounter. when I want to learn more, be it within or outside my business area, he will always point me to the right direction, to ensure that I benefit the most from the internship.
I am really happy with the amount of workload I have. Personally, I prefer to keep myself pretty occupied. my workload is just about right to allow me to be busy enough everyday but not too exhausted. alongside my projects and daily work, I have enough time to attend various intern event and network with people in other teams.
I am given actual projects that will benefit my team, or even other teams. My work has been sent around for people to refer to and is going to help them understand their clients better. Although I do not engage with clients directly, some of the ideas and results I produced are actually be used by my team mate to pitch to his client.
The learning curve is extremely steep. I've learnt so much more about financial industry and banking. more importantly, other skills like presentation skills in a meeting, people skills, problem solving skills.. are constantly developed throughout the internship. these skills are transferable and are absolutely vital in future career.
The Company
My office is quite fast paced, but people here are very friendly to each other. they are willing to help when you ask for it. People are encouraged to question and challenge others, but they respect each other and value others' input.
my internship is very well organised, with lots of networking opportunities and talks from senior leaders across the bank. at the same time, my line manager and I have worked out the objectives for the entire internship in the beginning, and sit down with me regularly to make sure that I am doing well.
A lot of resources are directed to us and great efforts have been made to make sure we really benefit from the internship. the on-desk training and hands-on experience are particularly invaluable to me.

The Culture
we go to a lot of intern events together and also work on different teams with one another to work on intern projects, which help to bond us.
