The Role
I really enjoyed my internship! It was overall really well structured with learning sessions and lots of networking events alongside the role. I also felt that the environment was very inclusive and welcoming.
My colleagues were very friendly and it was clear they wanted to help me excel.
I think this really depends on your manager. My manager had a bit more of a laidback approach in terms of work delegation but really did care about my thoughts and issues.
This really varied on a daily basis but this gave opportunities to reach out to others and network in different areas.
As an intern I wasn't given really the roles and responsibilities as a regular team member but there were things for me to do.
There was a lot of stakeholder engagement so I really had the opportunity to develop soft skills, particularly communications and teamwork.
The Company
The culture was really great. Everyone was really friendly and approachable.
It was well structured but there were some IT and security pass hiccups. It would've been better if we were given a clear induction pack.
Barclays invest a lot in their interns. We had a 2 day induction programme but throughout the internship we had learning sessions which were really helpful,
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Really good. Compliance is a growing function in terms of importance.
The Culture
I really got on with the fellow interns - we were a relatively small group so it was good to meet up.
It is London so not cheap.
Again, it is London so not cheap but lots of things to do.
Other than informal socialising there wasn't any other activities.
