    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the Vacation Programme at KPMG and gained a huge amount of experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone I worked with was really friendly and helpful. I felt like I was doing useful work - obviously there is a limit of how much an intern can do, but everyone I completed work for seemed to appreciate it.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Any question I asked was always welcomed and explained. Each team I worked with gave me good guidance whilst also letting me try figure things out on my own.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Relatively busy, but sometimes whilst out on an audit, the work could sometimes be slow and my in-charge couldn't provide me with anything to do. This didn't happen too often though.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think I was given a good amount of responsibility given my level. I was given the opportunity to find things out for myself, whilst also feeling welcome to ask questions.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and experience that I gained from this internship will definitely help me in my studies and my business knowledge in general.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I wasn't in the office often as I was mostly out on client site.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was definitely career-focused and several presentations and talks were organised for us which were interesting. I was disappointed that there wasn't anything organised for the interns to have the opportunity to get to know one another. Since I came from outside the UK I was hoping to make friends in work to spend time with after work, but I barely met the other interns.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As what would be expected for the role of an intern.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Everyone I worked with was really friendly and the general atmosphere of the company seems good.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As before mentioned, the internship seemed to be more career-focused than social.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • KPMG have a great canteen which I would go to for lunch whenever I was in the office. The company provide each employee with just under £4 to spend each day on lunch which was really good. I would usually end up spending about 20p on lunch. I never stayed around the area to socialise.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I did not experience any nightlife near the office.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not that I was aware of.

    2/5
