The Role
There were certain instance were it felt really enjoyable and certain others where it was not that great. I would have enjoyed it more if I had the opportunity to do more technical related work or where I can sense that my work has a real impact. Certain task I struggled to understand the application of my work.
My opinion was valued and my concerns were listened to. I feel I was valued as much as I should have, somewhere between family and a stranger!!!
I was supported very well throughout my placement. Any questions/queries I have recived appropriate guidance throughout!!!
The work was not stressful. I felt at times that I could have taken on abit more work. But I feel at the end the balance was just about perfect maybe tending slightly more towards the being bored side.
No major or minor responsibility other than the responsibility of ensuring I get my work done. Probably an area of responsibility would have improved the overall experience of the placement.
Skills and knowledge developed is a great plus to my career. Skills especially relating to workplace ethic, working relations, managing senior/busy people, managing time and managing multiple tasks at a certain time are some of the skills that I will value for a long time to come. Additionally, technical knowledge developed is a great adavantge as well!!!!
The Company
The atmosphere is generally very relaxed. No one seems too stressed at all. There is a good work-life balanace within the company. Facilities are also available to play Tennis and to go the Gym in addition to an active Social and Sports Club. Generally a good atmosphere, nothing spectacular to make it 'Fun Never Stopped' nor was there anything so bad to make it 'dull'.
Organisation of the placement could have been improved. Including an opportunity for students to decide what they want to do. Work planning for students also could have been better. In summary, it was not very bad but definitely but could do with alot of improvement.
To be honest not much. Since being here only for one year is abit hard to justify siginificant inverstment. However, investment was made towards attendance of certain courses and a conference!!!! It must be mentioned though, the company makes a significant amount of investment in students enterring the graduate scheme. Opportunities are available to enter the scheme following successful completion of the placement.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There are great opportunities for placement students to come back on the graduate scheme. In fact, part of the placement includes an inetrview to assess your suitability against business needs for a place on the Graduate Scheme. Hence, if you do a good job as a placement student you are pretty much set-up for a graduate role.
The Culture
Fellow placement students are well connected and depending on the location there will be quite a few based at the the same place. Hence a good social scene is available.
Cost is reasonable and standard for southern rates. Not massively expensive and not cheap as chips. Cost of living is pretty much good!!!
I am not into this sort of thing when you mean Nighlife as in Clubbing and etc.
Yes!!!! Great opportunites to engage in charity work, voluntary work with schools in the locality and such. In fact, such involvement is widely encouraged. Examples include Science Festivals, STEM promotion activity, Charity bake-offs!!!!
