The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year, however I feel it could have been organised better, both by my university and place of work.
I felt extremely valued by most of my colleagues. They really made me feel part of the team.
My manager has been amazing while I've been on placement. He is really helpful and understanding.
Very!
A lot! This is because one of my colleagues unexpectedly went onto long term sick for 6 months of my placement so I had to step in to her role.
I haven't yet went back to uni but I did find that I was much more confident in doing a presentation at uni. I did one at the beginning of the year and one at the end and the difference was amazing.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was trying at times. Some people like to have general chit chat throughout the day (me!) and others like silence - this can be difficult to work around.
I think the placement could have been organised better. There was some confusion about my actual role when going through the recruitment process and this did not get clarified until I started. I also think uni could have been more organised with visits and workshops.
I got to go on some invaluable training including travelling to London and Gloucester which really made me feel part of the team. There was other training opportunities that I would like to have seized and couldn't but I understand that the company may not want to invest in placement students.

Very! I would love to work here again.
The Culture
With other colleagues from my office we had a few social events including our christmas night out and anyones big birthdays (including my 21st!) We did also organise a night out with the other placement students.
Social side isn't great but there are lots of great places in the surrounding areas. Prices are average.
It is good considering it is a small town but there are much better places in the surrounding areas (that are easy to travel to)
We started a running club and a pilates class.
