The Role
It was an extremely productive way to spend summer and earn money, whilst boosting your CV and opening doors for future prospects.
Depending on the tasks, they were glad to palm off some tasks to interns as it meant they could focus on the more critical things. You are expected to work, so dont expect explicit recognition 24.7
Able to ask for time to dicsuss any concerns or issues, and this was encouraged.
Tasks were always available yet there were times when you would be waiting for the next stage of the process. so really peaks and troughs.
Everything was checked over by an analyst. the majority of tasks were mundane.
Time management, attention to detail, communication all transferable skills.
The Company
very professional, very rarely would the office talk about their personal life/ weekend plans etc.
HR have been great throughout with a range of events on our diaries. It woud have been nicer to have more intern-only events so we can maingle with our peers and learn from them about their own time at the bank and what they did in their roles.
We had a 1.5 intense training course at the start and ongoing optional online tutorials from Factset. desk specific we had a small briefing/overview but apart form that it was 90% on the job.
Company Parties/Events
The staff here are extremely good at their jobs. You can learn a great deal from everyone.
The Culture
Only if you arranged it yourself.
average for london. not much socialising was done though as work hours are long
