The Role
Very enjoyable due to being given my own project for the full duration of the internship rather than smaller tasks.
Colleagues are very friendly. Easy to approach for help, and also inclusive socially.
Guidance and support was excellent.
It isn't a very intensive workplace. There was never a need to work after hours.
Initially there was little responsibility as I was learning the ropes, but management was then good at backing off and giving space to work out my own solutions to problems.
My degree is very mathematical, so it won't help there, however, it will help in my understanding of networking and general programming skills, as well in preparing me for work after my studies.
The Company
Very friendly people, but a bit monotonous. Due to it being a networking company, there are never days where everything goes wrong, nor are there days with a huge success. They all kind of blend together.
It was very well organised. I was assigned my own project that was properly planned out.
I was asked to work in a programming language that I'd never used before. While I picked it up quickly, this does represent an investment on their part. There were also a session to train you in giving presentations.

Company Parties/Events
Very good. The company hires lots of employees out of university, and the placement can certainly end up with an offer to return, or a job offer.
The Culture
This depends on the office. This is certainly the case in the main office, less so in the remote offices.
The company subsidises housing for interns at an affordable price.
Great. Edinburgh is very active.
Yes. Many employees play sports during their lunch hour, which interns are free to come along to if they want. There are also social events to welcome new hires, say goodbye to those who are leaving, and also for general celebrations (eg weddings).
