The Role
I was made to feel very welcome from the moment I first walked into the office.
I felt that at some points, it was hard for them to find me a job to complete, seeing as I'm not as qualified, but when I did complete a task, I was praised for it which made me feel like I had really accomplished something.
All my peers were very supportive; always on hand to answer any questions even if they were busy. This was not only my manager but even first year graduates, which was refreshing seeing as that could be me next year.
Some days different from the other, but generally there was always something I could be doing.
Left to audit a large amount of cash; I definitely felt a responsibility to get it right!
This has always been a dream of mine (working at KPMG) and this internship has just secured my knowledge that this is what I want to do. It will assist me in my studies, due to the fact that I study Accounting and Finance so the information is all relevant, but it was also assist my motivation to get a 2:1 should I get a job offer.
The Company
There is always a relaxed atmosphere in the office; knowing how to be friendly to everyone but at the same time managing to finish all your work.
Very organised, nothing to report.
I felt that the staff were all so friendly, I already felt like part of the team, which made me want to work for KPMG even more, knowing that I fitted in.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I am sure I haven't heard about all the perks of the job yet, but from what I know already, the perks are very appealing! Jump start Fridays in particular.
The Culture
Having only been here for 4 weeks, I have been invited to at least 4 social events, some for the whole office, others for the younger graduates.
Bristol cost of living is higher than what you would expect elsewhere, however, I am a student here so knew that before I started my internship. I also have a student house here, so have had to pay rent on that for the year anyway (thus no further expenses accommodation wise have occurred).
Nightlife is great (I know that because I live here). Have not really had too much time to go out whilst on my placement as I have been returning to my home town at weekends (much more favourable than staying in a 8 bedroom house on your own!)
There are societies I have been told about, sports events, and many more.
