The Role
I really enjoyed my 7 weeks in the Market risk department, as well as shadowing different areas within the bank.
We has 2 review sessions during the summer where we were informed of how we were doing/did and included all the things we did well as well as what we could improve upon.
There was always someone willing to answer my questions.
It would depend on the day. If I had finished some work (which could take between a few hours to a week) I may have had to wait but I would find different areas to shadow in this case.
As I haven't even started university yet it was hard for them to give me a lot of responsibility but I would normally be assisting them on work the team I was working on had already.
I feel a lot more comfortable talking about things in finance such as the products traded and I feel like my excel skills have really improved. Being in a professional environment for a whole summer will definitely benefit me in a job in the future.
The Company
My team were very friendly and were always willing to give me their time.
Being part of the academy programme meant it was well organised with additional events and training also made available to us.
There were a few training days such as excel training and public speaking. They also provide us with a mentor as well as supporting us financially throughout university.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
There are other summer internships I can now apply for to give me a chance if getting on the grad programme
The Culture
Yeah the academy programme was 15 strong and we talked on a daily basis as well as the occasional social event.
Living in London already meant that the cost was no more than I am used to. Loads of socialising opportunities!
It's central London so there's loads!
Yeah there have been a few opportunities that have come up
