About You
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and I felt like I really got something out of the experience
We were all treated exactly as you'd hope to be treated. Although I was a little nervous beforehand you're put at ease straight away and treated as one of the employees
Throughout the days we were given numerous tasks to complete, and most of the time we were accompanied by a kpmg employee to help when necessary, though sometimes this was unnecessary and it felt a little awkward
Although the insight was only short the skills gained were invaluable and will help me in the future
The Company
The insight programme followed a very logical structure, starting with very basic tasks and presentations, and ending in group presentations by the students on the insight programme
The atmosphere was great. Pretty much everyone is in the same boat so it's good to learn with the other students
I can't fault KPMG at all in this area. After completing the insight programme I was fast tracked to a summer internship interview which I passed, and now have my second year summer internship in place before even starting my second year of university
There were a number of talks and presentations about each individual area you could go into, although there was much less hands on activities than I would have hoped
After the first day there was a networking session where we were able to talk to other employees. This really allowed us to ask any questions that hadn't been answered during the day and meant we were able to find out about the company culture
The programme really showed me that accounting is the career path for me, and I know a lot of the other students that attended felt the same way too
Everything Else
The programme was only short so understandably there was no salary. We were offered up to £100 reimbursed expenses for the assessment centre, and travel reimbursement for the actual insight programme
After the first day there was an opportunity to network with other employees for over an hour
The networking session was very helpful. There was around 8 employees available to speak to from different areas of work and they were all very friendly, and happy to answer any questions
There was a section in one of the presentations about all the things employees can get involved in, such as sports clubs and cultural groups
Definitely. I can't really fault it and it's given me the opportunity to secure a summer internship almost a year in advance
