The Role
It is tough at times to get completely involved because the knowledge isnt there on the part of the intern, that isn't the company's fault but it slightly limits your use. It is to KPMG's credit that they kept me as active as they did, and did so with differing tasks giving me as wide an experience as possible.
They were as supportive as possible always giving me positive feedback.
Not just the supervisor but almost all colleagues were as useful as could be expected.
Most days very busy. Occasionally whilst waiting for information from a client I was at a slight loose end but most colleagues were useful in giving me more work.
Lots. I was trusted with doing all my work myself, and with one on one time with the client without people looking over my shoulder the whole time.
Not a huge amount in my degree studies, but as far as beyond goes it was incredibly helpful
The Company
I wasn't often in the office, but in my work environment there was a real good balance between feeling free to chat and joke around and still getting down and doing plenty of work
Not hugely. Two interns turned up in the office on the first day, one of whom (me) had been told they were going on an away job straight away and so had packed a suitcase, the other had not. As it turned out he was sent to a hotel for a week and I was not. This was one of two last minute changes in a four week placement.
They sat me down before each task and explained the area in detail
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Incredibly.
The Culture
Fellow interns were on different assignments so not great from that point of view. The other colleagues reasonable, a couple of events, but nothing major.
I lived at home, so bill free!
It's Preston, not amazing...
Not hugely although there was a golf afternoon one friday
