  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like a full-time employee in my team, I participated just as much as everyone else and my ideas were readily taken on board. My team happened to be a very well mixed group of people, and working with them was eay and a pleasure.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never bored at my desk, I always had interesting tasks to do, however if I ever needed to take time out to go to intern events - I was free to structure my schedule any way I wanted.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Because I was working on a POC, my coworker intern and I were the only ones working on this project for our team. That being said, it was up to us to create something that would be able to be presented to higher directors to prove that our concept could be implemented company-wide.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Barclays is well-known for being a company that realizes that its main commodity is people, as such they go out of their way to make sure that Barclays is a great place for people to work - not 'worker bees' or simply employees. The great atmosphere at Barclays is due in large part to the values (that you can find on any wall): Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Stewardship, and these are constantly used and referenced in daily happenings.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship program was well organized with many engaging events and they were always happy to take on board any feedback.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I think the plethora of intern events and the fact that many interns knew each other from assessment centres and spring week fostered a good community among the interns. Everyone was really friendly and since we met at spring week, we all stay in touch.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Once we were paid, it was cheap enough for drinks every friday after work and many other activities such as clubbing, music festivals, and films.
