The Role
It was an incredible learning experience and I learnt a lot about the role of a developer in an agile team.
I felt very valued by the teams, and they included me in all of their meetings. I was also encouraged to speak up when I disagreed with something or had concerns.
My manager was very supportive, she would always take time out of her day to sit down and find out how I was doing and give feedback on my work so far.
After a quiet start, I had a lot of work to do. I was never bored because I enjoyed the tasks I had been set.
I was in charge of an cloud initiative which required me to liaise with a number of business partners. As my team lacked knowledge in the area, I had to share whatever I had learned with my team.
I learnt on the job. The work was so interesting but relatively complex, however with patience I was able to figure things out. I can envisage myself using something like behavior driven development which I learnt at Barclays in a future role.
The Company
There were lots of intelligent, motivated people which were always ready to help.
It was very organised and there was a number of interesting events such as an intern hackathon which I really enjoyed.
Barclays invests a lot of money into their internship programme and this is the reason why it is the best in the country.

Working from home
I'd love to come back. There are a number of interesting technology initiatives take place across the Bank.
The Culture
Yes. Canary Wharf is a great place for socializing and networking.
Quite expensive, but fun nonetheless.
There aren't any nightclubs in the area but the area is well connected to other parts of London.
The Bank has a number of Communities of Practice which involve people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.
