About You
I found the insight programme very informative about KPMG as a firm and all the separate services. I particularly enjoyed the business challenge on the last day.
All KPMG employees were extremely welcoming and friendly
The insight involved many representatives from the different services giving presentations about their particular area. There was also a session on KPMG interviews which gave great advice.
The main time to develop skills was in the business challenge, when I had the experience to work in a team to come up with an innovative idea.
The Company
There was a good structure to the insight, in regards to the fact that every service line was covered in detail however I think the insight could be made better to have more 'workshops' and tasks rather than just presentations.
There wasn't many activities, besides from the business challenge, and so it mainly consisted of listening to presentations, therefore there wasn't much of an opportunity to interact with other students on the programme.
The insight provided a lot of advice on how to progress in the finical services industry.
There wasn't an opportunity to shadow anyone in a particular role however there was a chance to network with graduates.
I feel I gained a great understanding of KPMG's culture and competencies.
Unfortunately the particular area I want to go into, management consulting, is not offered in Birmingham and so the insight wasn't particularly useful to myself.
Everything Else
travel expenses were reimbursed
There was one opportunity to network with many people on the graduate scheme.
The networking event was held at the bar in the office, which provided a nice atmosphere.
Societies within KPMG and activities outside of work, such as sport, were briefly mentioned.
It was a great two days to gain an understanding of KPMG as a firm and the services they offer. I would definitely recommend this insight to anyone who is interested in a career within a professional services firm.
