About You
The insight day was very enjoyable. We got to meet many current interns, recent graduates, and even a member of the MPC - Andy Haldane. I learned about their experiences, and felt the day was very well organised. I learned a lot about the Bank.
We were asked at the beginning of the day what we wanted to get out of it. I felt that Holly Smith, the lady organising the day, did an excellent job of catering to our needs.
We were given lots of information about applying to the Bank of England's internship programmes, including what the application process is like, the requirements for each division, and tips for our CV's.
The information I received will be incredibly helpful in applying to the Bank of England, and hopefully helpful in applications I make elsewhere, too.
The Company
I thought the insight day was incredibly well-structured. I got everything I wanted to out of it.
Everybody at the Bank was notably unpretentious - which was slightly surprising given it was a place full of extremely intelligent people. The organisers of the insight day made the point that this was a cultural point about the Bank of England, which I really appreciated.
N/A
We were given lots of information about how an internship can lead to a graduate programme offer, and then we were told how the graduate programme works. This was detailed extremely well.
The organisers made it very clear that the Bank of England had a relaxed, friendly culture, that was designed to help people work to the best of their abilities. I thought the staff and interns demonstrated this wonderfully.
The content of the day made clear what opportunities the Bank of England can offer, and outlined the new 'Central Banking Diploma'. This was very useful information and I will be seeking to intern at the Bank of England next year.
Everything Else
Reimbursed travel expenses
Yes - we had a networking lunch where interns and recent graduates met us to answer any questions we had.
The networking lunch was long enough to be sufficiently informational, but short enough not to be boring. I thought this was smart. The graduates and interns were very friendly and offered great advice.
These activities were briefly mentioned by Andy Haldane, but beside that, not too much.
Definitely. I learned a lot about the Bank of England and the insight day helped to clear any preconceptions that I had.
