The Role
I enjoyed my placement. It gave you a good opportunity to learn more about areas across the business. However you are to an extent limited to learning about your own programme, learning about areas outside of that isn't made partiuclarly easy. For this particular internship the job types are very varied and therefore it doesn't seem a partiularly consisten stream to be group together as.
I was partiuclarly fortunate to have quite extensive support by my manager, however I am aware that this was not partiuclarly consistent across the breadth of interns.
Several project to complete in the role. A lot of time spent attending arranged events which detracts from ability to complete projects and therefore increases how busy you really area.
The Company
My office was particularly relaxed and therefore everybody was very friendly and generally willing to help. The team were good and friendly and hence time spent there was paritcularly enjoyable.
Information beforehand was often slow and massively over any stated deadlines. Upon arrival there was no access to IT systems for almost a week. Intern events were not arranged until later in the internship which seems a bit illogical considering this is when everybody is generally busiest,
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
The Culture
Social scene wasn't particularlry organised or evident among interns, have seen a much stronger evidence of this in previous workplaces. There was a stronger social scene from the colleagues in my actual team than across the internship.
Canary wharf is very expensive, even for London.
Canary wharf is also very limited in terms of nightlife and things to do. Obviously there is easy access to central where I'd suggest there is a lot more available and priced more reaosnably.
