The Role
The KPMG internship provided me with a great insight into how the various Tax function operate and different roles in the organisation. I found it to be a challenging yet very informative environment. Was particularly impressed by the 3 day introduction into basics of accountancy and in particular tax - which proved to be invaluable during the course of my internship.
Despite being split across two teams in the Watford & London offices, everyone was very friendly and took the time to approach and ask me if I had any questions or concerns.
In addition to the introduction, there was ample support provided by the 'buddy' system and in general all team members were on hand to ask/help out.
Initially there was a lesser workload, which could also be attributed to the summer season. However over the course of my internship there was increasing amounts of work which was challenging but equally as rewarding.
After more of the team became familiar with myself and my skillset, I found myself to be taking on increasing amounts of responsibility which made my feel like I made a valid contribution to the team.
Along with the foundation knowledge of accountancy and tax, learning to interact with various people across KPMG - all are invaluable skills
The Company
Very positive atmosphere - is dependent on whether you are in a regional or London office. I found the London office atmosphere to be more appealing in that is a more fast paced corporate environment.
Despite the short length of the internship, the amount of feedback in terms of pieces of work completed and the initial three day training was very helpful.

Completing an internship will provide a great platform to join KPMG on a graduate basis. At the end of the internship a partner interview is conducted to determine if a full time graduate offer will be made.
The Culture
I worked alongside a few other interns that I met at the introduction days. However it was difficult to organise gatherings due to the spread of interns across the regional offices.
London - hence Nightlife is very good and on a short tube journey to and from. However may not be feasible if important meeting/early start the next day.
Team lunches were regularly eaten and went to watch the cricket at a local pub which was fun. Other corporate drinks and events were available if you choose to attend..
