The Role
I truly enjoy working with TfL, nice place to learn and work. I made some great working relationships with my colleages. I was also always kept busy with different kinds of day to day QS works.
Everyone in the team I have worked with is friendly and will be able to give me any support and guidance whenever I needed it. I will approach them for additional information which is useful for my final year in university and they are very helpful as well.
My palcement manager helps me a lot since day 1 till the end of my placement. She will frequently check on my progress and will inform me on the part I need to improve on.
As this is a station upgrade project, I will be having different kind of tasks daily from attending meetings to doing some pricing reviews. I felt this is beneficial to me as a placment student.
The responsibility given to me is much more than I expected for a summer placement QS which I find it enjoyable. Not only working in the office, but also site visits and also meeting with contractors.
I felt I have gained more knowledge and hands on experience working in TfL which will be essential to my final year degree in university. TfL provides training courses for all its employess, including interns.
The Company
The atmosphere in my contruction site office was very good, as we share the office with contractors too. This gives us the opportunity to have a better working relationship.
Besides doing daily works, all the summer placements students from different discipline will frequently meet up to share their experience in a forum and also do some site visits organized by other placement students. However, there only bit which I think needs improvement is during the application process which the people in charge will take quite a while to reply.
I was encouraged by my placement manager to register myself into several kinds of training courses which will be beneficial to my placement as well as final year in university. During my 3 months placement in TfL, I have attended more than 5 training courses.

I look forward to applying and getting a job in TfL's graduate scheme after completing my degree which I feel it is a nice place to learn while working toward my chartership with RICS.
The Culture
Yes, every placement students from different scheme and location will meet up to share our experience during our summer placement as well as going for a field trip together.
Living in London is obviously much more costly, however with the free travel card provided, it saves me alot in terms of travelling.
I enjoyed the Nightlife in London very much.
Outisde work, most of the summer placement will meet up for a drink after an event/work.
