The Role
I really enjoyed my internship and I felt that it gave me a great insight into what was involved in pensions based work. It was my first time working in a financial services company.
Everybody I met during my time with the company was very friendly and did not treat me any differently to anybody else. There were always colleagues on hand to answer any questions that I had.
Any time I was given a new task to deal with I was given appropriate training so I could carry out whatever had been asked of me. Nobody minded if you asked questions more than once to make sure you understand.
It all depended on how much work my colleagues had and what type of work it was. If it was the right kind of thing then they would happily pass it on to me.
Throughout the internship there were a few tasks that I could do independently and without guidance. Some calculations and things of that nature would always have to be checked.
I think I have developed my interpersonal skills having met so many people in such a short time. It also helps me to see how my degree would help in a full time job.
The Company
It was always a positive atmosphere in the office, sometimes it can be quiet when people are very busy, but other times everybody will be chatting away about things.
I think that the placement was very well organised and that the introductory day in London helped put me at ease about the experience.
There wasn't a strict training schedule to follow, but as and when new work became available I was always trained to the necessary standard to complete the task.

Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a date for a partner interview, with the hope that I can become a full time member of the pensions team in 2016.
The Culture
Quite a few of the team went to watch a cricket match and there were a few lunches out with colleagues as well.
Everything was very reasonably priced I thought, I managed to get student accommodation for the duration of the placement.
From what I experienced I thought the nightlife was really good and a wide variety of places to go.
There were a few team socials and always things going on in the city centre in the evenings if you have nothing to do.
