The Role
I really enjoyed the internship, everybody was very helpful and friendly. I could approach anybody if I had question and they took their time and explain me everything. The work itself was very interesting and challenging.
Everybody was very friendly and tried to include me in daily tasks as good as possible. We always had lunch together and also went out a couple of time, which helped to build important relations quickly. I never felt not welcomed.
I had all the support I needed. I had a supervisor and also a buddy, which both have been my first line of contact. However with the time I also worked together with many other people in my division that helped me if I asked them. For example if I had to prepare for my stock pitch my supervisor, my buddy, and other people from the department helped me with my preparation and also gave me valuable feedback afterwards.
In general I always busy enough not to get bored, which is a good think because I enjoyed my work and was really in the flow. On some days it was maybe a bit too busy but that was okay as I would expect that from a role at a bank. Also as I really enjoyed the work, I didn't have a problem staying a couple of hours longer if necessary.
In general I had a project on which I worked on my own and were I also reached out to other analyst around the globe. Besides that I supported the team in their daily activities, and sometimes my input was very time crucial for example when I updated models.
In particular the stock pitches very extremely useful to build up presentation skills, which I will need probably my whole life. Besides that I developed general working skills, which are always useful for future roles.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very nice, people in general were very nice, nobody shouted at people or was very offensive. Also the office had all amenities like a cafeteria and restaurant. One could have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the office.
The internship was very well organised. When I arrived on my desk, everything was already set up and I knew the names of all the relevant persons in advance and was already in contact with them, which made the start much smoother. Also in course of the internship I never had the feeling that something was not well organised.
Before the start of the internship we had two and a half day training. Even after the initial training all employees in my division took the time to explain my anything that was unclear and helped me with difficult tasks.

The Culture
The social scene was very good. Usually there was one organised event per week outside of work like a soft ball tournament or clubbing. Also people took time to meet you during the day for a coffee to chat about their experience and to answer your questions.
The cost of living in London in general is very high compared to most other cities and this is just partly compensated by a higher salary. However, the long term career chances and the network you can build here compensate for this
The nightlife in London is very good. There are plenty of pubs and nightclubs so life outside of work never gets boring.
In London you can get involved in almost any activities. Also the firm enables you to take at least two days of to get involved in a project at a charity. This can be a very rewarding experience as it enables you to see things from different angles and appreciate more your work.
