The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at KPMG over the last 12 months. I found the people to be extremely talented, and friendly, and always willing to lend a hand when you're stuck. The social life is pretty good too!
The people at KPMG were by far one of the best things about the placement. They all were very open and friendly and willing to support me and my development throughout the entire year.
Support and guidance is extremely easy to find whenever / wherever you need it. Not only this, but they're also very open to supporting your development in areas of your choosing (not necessarily related to the work you're currently doing).
Initially, not very. It very much depends on how much work there is to go around, and the project you are on. Some days had only a couple of hours of work, whilst other days was a full, jam-packed day.
It varies, but in general: a lot. I often found myself managing an entire workstream, or in charge of multiple people. I was often in a position where I was talking to senior stakeholders directly too (think, Chief Financial Officer of a massive organisation).
Definitely the most valuable thing to have come out of the placement has been my ability to break down large pieces of work more efficiently, manage myself, and carry myself in a much more professional manner.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is very open and friendly. We recently consolidated multiple offices in London, moving all the staff into Canary Wharf, and taking over half of the building opposite. The building is very google-esque with pool tables, huge windows and a great canteen / bar.
I was very impressed with the way it was set up in general. There were no distinctions between placement students and those joining on the full graduate scheme. From Day 1 there was a plan set out for us to follow and aid in our development.
Massively. The firm set up 'The Academy' which is a network for people who are just starting their careers. As well as this, there is a wealth of online and face-to-face training than you can access at any time.

Very. I received a graduate offer off the back of my placement year and am thoroughly looking forward to coming bacl.
The Culture
Initially, yes. However, as the year went on and people began to travel off to client sites around the country, it did become slightly harder to organize meaningful social events.
I chose to live in Canary Wharf. Big mistake. Very expensive. I'd recommend living somewhere on the DLR line (probably around Limehouse / Shadwell). It's cheaper and closer to central London, too.
Non-existent. There are loads of bars, but if you want to gou *out* you have to head into central (which is quite a trek).
Loads. KPMG has hundreds of different social clubs / networks to get involved with. I was part of the social club and the football team.
