The Role
Cummins has a very diverse work force which makes everyone feel welcome.
Everyone is valued and has their input in different situations.
I was given support from anyone who I asked of it. Everyone in Cummins realise that helping eachother is the best way to get the best work out of a job and enables everyone to learn from eachother in the process.
More work was sent my way in the later stages of the placement as my ability to understand the situations and do the jobs improved through time.
I was given responsibility for my own work thoughout the year. The work ranging from small work requests to your own research project.
Working at Cummins has developed my skills for working life significantly. I received a lot of training in various areas whilst working here to develop my skills and abilities. Another bonus is that the year counts towards getting CEng/IEng status.
The Company
Everyone got on well and socialised outside of work.
The work placement was set up in a way you would feel you are not on a placement, but a permanent member of the team you are working in.
I received a lot of training in every area that they could possibly think of being useful to my developement in Cummins
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Above 25 days holiday
Cummins is an appealing place to work, but I am leaving my options open to all other companies. The only down side about Cummins Turbo Technologies is that it is located in Huddersfield.
The Culture
Yes. We go on nights out together and sometimes other activities such as go-karting
I stayed living in Manchester which is more expensive to live and costs on the train, but is a nicer city to live in.
Huddersfield has a few bars, but not that much for proper nightlife
Cummins has football teams etc you can join as well as other events such as going to Alton Towers and gym classes.
