The Role
I enjoyed my placement every day , i was always given different exciting opportunities each and every day which gave me plenty experience and variation.
The longer i spent on placement i felt more and more valued as i became a more important member of the team each week.Spending time outside of work on comunity projects also helped my relationships.
I was given expert guidence when i needed it throughout my placement year and when my manager was unable to help he always made sure someone else was avaliable to do so.
I was given projects to work on which took alot of work which were long time projects so when there was not lots of daily jobs to do then i was ale to get on with these and also when there was lots of work to do i was able to just concentrate on my daily tasks.
I was given more and more responsability each week i spent working at Cummins , half way into my placement i was able to chair my own meeting with my coleagues here in huddersfield and then also with my coleagues in China. I was also given responsabities such as making sure customer builds were going smootly and on time.
The placement year has vastly improved my knowledge of working within a business environment and also what is and what isnt acceptable in the work place due to traning coruses i have taken part in on my placement. The management skills i have learnt will also be able to help me manage my time and work load in my third and final year.
The Company
The office environment was a perfect balance between seriousness and also a bit of a laugh , we would always have a joke and a laugh every day while still mantaining a level of professionalism.
My placement was well organised and structured and i knew what my tasks and responsabilites were , only unorganised part was that i did not have a computer log on in the first week but this was due to an IT issue.
I received traning courses on important company processes and also on health and safety courses , i was also given traning on purchasing parts from suppliers and also setting them up in the system.

I think i have a very strong chance of working with this company in the future. I have had no official offer yet.
The Culture
I worked with another placement student from Newcastle University who i got on very well with and also met outside of the work place.
The cost of living is very resonable in Huddersfield as it is not expensive neither is it cheap also there is a very good social scene in Huddersfield so it is a great place to work and live.
Huddersfield has a great nightlife with something on each and every night of the week never a dull moment.
There is lots of opportunities to get involved of things outside of work such as there are lots of different sporting culbs each night of the week and there are also community projects going on all the time.
