The Role
Enjoyed the company culture a lot, colleagues were all professional and friendly and work environment was modern and comfortable. Was disappointed with the lack of information provided about the role prior to starting. Also disappointed that I did not end up working in the department I applied for. Nonetheless, I learned a lot and got a good overview of several lines of business within the company.
On a few occasions throughout the 10 weeks, the work I completed was of actual value to the team which was encouraging and improved my interest in the role.
Manager and colleagues were always willing to provide assistance / offer their expertise on a particular matter, provided they were available. My team was often busy and it was sometimes difficult to seek help from them. There is always the possibility of reaching out to other teams for assistance - they are usually happy to help.
Initially very busy, getting up to speed with the projects I would be working on, meeting people, attending meetings, getting set up, attending events put on for the interns etc. This all died down after about a month and started to become more like business as usual, getting on with projects and daily tasks.
I was given just the right amount of responsibility by my manager and colleagues, enough to ensure I did my work well and on time but not so much that I could damage the team's work. I was given more responsibility as time went and I became more comfortable with what I was doing.
I learnt a lot on the internship, but most of it was job-specific. None of it will be of any help for my degree, although definitely helpful for work in the future. In terms of technical skills, I learned how to use one or two new software packages. These were specific to the role also, and I am unlikely to use them again outside of J.P. Morgan.
The Company
Relaxed, professional, pleasant atmosphere. Modern offices, comfortable furniture, new equipment, good work culture.
It was a well-organized internship program of considerable size. We had regular intern events, performance review meetings, and resources available to us for professional development.
We had several talks from different members of the company, about company news, initiatives, question and answer sessions with previous interns etc. On-demand learning resources were always available as well.

Graduate scheme is presented in detail, and interns are encouraged to take it, dependent upon receiving the offer at the end of the internship.
The Culture
All interns were very nice, sociable people. Interesting to talk to them about their different university experiences / courses. There were regular nights out with other interns which were a lot of fun!
Reasonable cost of living. Bars/clubs were a little expensive but we soon found the best options for students and it was not a problem!
Good, several options available in terms of clubs, and many nice bars and restaurants nearby too. Plenty to keep you busy all summer!
We were encouraged to join in company activities outside of work, of which there were many. We also had a volunteering day where we left the office for a day to help out in the local community.
