    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I feel the job itself was not as in depth or interesting as it could/should have been - every day is/was monotonous. It is an easy job, but boring.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Getting on with the other employees was easy, but a lot of the 'management' staff seemed to have a bit of a superiority complex!

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Really only when there was training to be done - pretty much you just get left to your own devices to get on with things

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The business is seasonal so at times things were made up to keep people busy.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Barely any extra responsibility is afforded to placement students - you seem to be just another employee

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Personally I don't think I'll use much of the knowledge learned as I don't want to work in the insurance field again.

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Often any banter was put on the back burner - the management seem reluctant to let any sort of fun occur inside working hours, which makes the job even more repetitive.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It wasn't so much a placement, it was just a job. You don't really seem to get much experience, apart from telesales.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were opportunities for further insurance qualifications - they were mentioned briefly and then appeared to be forgotten about.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I decided to stay on one day a week due to the easy, casual nature of the job, but I wouldn't go back again permanently.

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only student there!

    0/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • On the bright side it's more than a student loan! But it was one of the lowest salaries I came accross.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It wasn't particularly great - I managed to persuade my colleagues to come out where I lived, and got them hooked!

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Regular employee benefits, such as Pru-Health and subsidised JJB gym membership weren't available to me as I was a placement student.

    1/5
