The Role
I feel the job itself was not as in depth or interesting as it could/should have been - every day is/was monotonous. It is an easy job, but boring.
Getting on with the other employees was easy, but a lot of the 'management' staff seemed to have a bit of a superiority complex!
Really only when there was training to be done - pretty much you just get left to your own devices to get on with things
The business is seasonal so at times things were made up to keep people busy.
Barely any extra responsibility is afforded to placement students - you seem to be just another employee
Personally I don't think I'll use much of the knowledge learned as I don't want to work in the insurance field again.
The Company
Often any banter was put on the back burner - the management seem reluctant to let any sort of fun occur inside working hours, which makes the job even more repetitive.
It wasn't so much a placement, it was just a job. You don't really seem to get much experience, apart from telesales.
There were opportunities for further insurance qualifications - they were mentioned briefly and then appeared to be forgotten about.
Financial Bonus
I decided to stay on one day a week due to the easy, casual nature of the job, but I wouldn't go back again permanently.
The Culture
I was the only student there!
On the bright side it's more than a student loan! But it was one of the lowest salaries I came accross.
It wasn't particularly great - I managed to persuade my colleagues to come out where I lived, and got them hooked!
Regular employee benefits, such as Pru-Health and subsidised JJB gym membership weren't available to me as I was a placement student.
